Laguna Seca Coming Out Party
To end the season, three Hyper Racers took to the hills of Monterey to showcase the arrival of the the X1's in North America.
On a typically cool weekend in the end of May, three Hyper Racer X1's took to the iconic, Laguna Seca raceway in northern California. In a field of over 200 cars, the X1 was top of the time sheet on Friday, and second on Saturday with a time of 1:27.625. Driver Ricky Capo was confident there was more to be had. But he can be forgiven as it was only his second day to have ever seen the track.
But the takeaway was far more than the time sheet, it was the reliability and the cost. All three cars drove every day, with two cars driving all nine stints (the third car sat out as the driver was called away). There were zero mechanical issues preventing participation in 27 total runs.
he cost had to do with the value received for the money spent. The 1.27.6 time was bested by a mere 0.4 sec. by a car costing $1.6m more than the Hyper Racer.
